Dr. Bahrawar Jan

Dr. Bahrawar Jan has joined PBS as Deputy Director General in 2009. He did his Ph.D in Statistics with specialization in Survival Analysis under Indigenous Ph.D Scholarship Program and Post doctorate from Kent State University Ohio USA.  He did his M. Phil in 1999 and MSc Statistics with gold medal in 1989 from University of Peshawar.

Before joining PBS, he was attached with teaching and research as regular employee in University of Peshawar for 19 years, holding last position of Associate Professor in Statistics. He published 26 research articles in journal of international repute. 

Currently, he has been involved in Programmatic and Research Activities of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. He initiated Census of Manufacturing Industries and Quantum Index with new guidelines and mode of operation with special focus on Business Register and Classification. He has the expertise in Economic Statistics, Demographic Research, Population Welfare Statistics and Energy and Mining Statistics.

Dr. Bahrawar Jan did a number of training courses from various institutions including University of Peshawar, London School of Economics, Institute of Population Studies Chulalangkorn University Bangkok and Kent State University Ohio. He has been National and International trainer in Demographic trends, Agriculture Statistics, Educational Statistics, Data handling, Statistical Analysis, Statistical Packages and Sampling Techniques. 

He also worked in Peshawar University as Hostel Warden, Examination Secrecy Scrutineer, Staff Proctor and remain active member of different inquiry committees.

Currently, he is member of BOS and Research Evaluation Committees of Quaid-E-Azam University Islamabad, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad and International Islamic University Islamabad. He is also supervising research students from Allama Iqbal Open University.
